How I Clean my makeup brushes
Hi,
Today I thought I would share how I clean my makeup brushes. I try and clean my makeup brushes every two weeks, I find that this keeps them feeling nicer and it is more hygienic.
What I use:
- Unscented Washing up Liquid - I have found this is the best washing up liquid to use because it doesn't add any scent to my makeup brushes.
- Olive Oil- I use this to condition the brushes and it is very effective. The brushes feel very soft when I use them.
- Makeup brushes mat- This mat is very effective, it works well removing all the makeup from the brushes and helps to reshape them. I bought mine from Wilko for £4.
- Serving tray- I pour out the washing up liquid and olive oil onto this. It doesn't have to be a tray, it can be anything really. A plate would work great too. I have linked a similar tray to what I use from Ikea.
- I pour out the washing up liquid and olive oil onto a tray.
- One by one I clean each brush. First I dip the brush in the washing up liquid and then olive oil.
- I then use the makeup brush clean mat under cold water to clean them.
- I then leave them to dry on a tea towel, flat.
TOP TIPS
Do not tip the brushes upside, keep them facing downwards so the water doesn't run into the brush and ruin the glue.
Do not pull too hard on the bristles because you can pull them out.
Leave to dry as long as possible.
